Yes, if you can place it in the root zone without damaging roots — for example in holes under drippers or at a tree's canopy edge. Surface broadcasting on a standing crop is not effective.

No. It stores part of the water you apply and gives it back between waterings. It can stretch irrigation intervals, but it cannot create water.

Yes. Mixing with basal fertiliser, compost or sand is the easiest way to spread small quantities evenly. Apply and irrigate soon after mixing.

Potassium polyacrylate does not add sodium to soil, which is why it is used for agriculture. Ask for the SDS for handling and environmental information on your grade.
